Incredible librarians especially Donovan. He greets you at the door, was very helpful and even walked us to where we could find parrot books for our toddler, and is always so friendly.
Great location (easier access than the one in the Lot), small/private feel, lots of parking, usual number of farmers and vendors for fruits, vegetables, bread/bakery items, egg, fish, ready food, flowers, honey, etc.. Only Sundays 9 to 1. Do check it out.
Well-used library for the Dougherty Valley area.Lots of reading, educational, and community programs for all ages. Throughout the week, there are various 30 minute Storytimes sessions for babies through preschoolers, that involve singing along, reading out loud a couple of age appropriate books, getting the kids and caregivers up and dancing, and always giving out stickers to all the kids who attend at the end.The library offers after school activities and a safe place for kids to do their homework, such as after school movies, STEM activities. It also offers group English Conversation meetings for people who want to practice their English during the month. Monthly Book Club. Saturday Chess Club. And special events /programs such as the Summer Reading Program, Live Music, and cultural /seasonal events throughout the year (Chinese New Year, Christmas Tree decorating, book readings, etc.)Automatic sliding doors make it easy for people who are disabled or people pushing strollers to enter or leave the library. Great selection of DVDs, magazines to check out. Library, overall, is quiet. Plenty of outlets for laptops and some "quiet rooms" to meet and study/work in as a group. Great kids section. Plus there are toys, wooden puzzles for kids below Kindergarten age can play and learn from. The cons: Library is small for the growing size of people living in the Windermere and Gale Ranch areas that this place serves. It can get crowded at times throughout the week. Finding parking can be extremely tough during the school year, especially in the mornings, because this library is located in the same complex as the DVC campus.

Reviews
The Dougherty Station Library in Contra Costa County is praised for its convenient location, ample parking, and a variety of vendors offering fresh produce and goods on Sundays. Visitors appreciate the friendly and knowledgeable librarian, engaging activities for kids, clean environment, diverse programs for all ages including Storytimes sessions and after-school activities. The library features quiet study areas with plenty of outlets, a great selection of DVDs and magazines to borrow, as well as a well-equipped kids section with toys and puzzles. While some mention it can get crowded at times due to its small size relative to the growing population it serves, overall it is considered a hidden gem with excellent programs for children.
